1. Initial setup
Camera Settings
- Open Camera Settings from the side menu.
- Use ONVIF or enter a compatible RTSP URL.
- Test the connection and confirm the image before saving.
- Give the camera a clear name. Storage remains linked to the CAM1, CAM2, CAM3, etc. slot.
IP cameras with ONVIF/RTSP are the priority. H.264 is recommended; H.265 is compatible when supported by the camera and installed components. USB and DroidCam are secondary compatibility options.
2. Live View and mosaic
- Turn Camera On: opens the selected camera.
- Mosaic Auto: displays the configured cameras in the same panel.
- Arrange Mosaic: lets you adjust the visual order.
- HD/SD: changes viewing quality without changing the original recording quality.
- Zoom: use the mouse wheel; click to return to the normal framing.
3. Area, detection, visual tracking and alarm
- Open the monitoring-area grid and paint only the important region.
- Save the area for the current camera.
- Enable Detection to create events and automatic recordings.
- Enable Visual Tracking to mark detected objects.
- Enable Alarm when you want the alert border and sound.
Detection and alarm depend on a saved area for the camera. Do not reduce the area only to hide false alerts; adjust the area and sensitivity carefully.
4. Recordings and timeline
- REC: starts or stops manual recording.
- Yellow events: represent recordings created by detection.
- Hover: place the pointer over the event to see the thumbnail.
- Click the event: opens HBB Analysis.
- Speed: 1x, 2x, 5x and 10x for compatible direct MP4 files.
The system uses fixed CAM1, CAM2, CAM3, etc. folders. Renaming a camera does not mix files or change the storage identity.
5. Snapshots
When you select an area in Live View, HBB can create:
- FULL: the complete image at the available resolution.
- EXACT SELECTION: only the selected rectangle.
- INVESTIGATION: an enlarged crop around the selection.
6. Evidence and exit
HBB validates files before treating them as usable recordings. Invalid files may be discarded and recorded in the log. Incomplete evidence remains honestly identified, without repeating frames to hide failures.
To close the entire HBB VMS PRO set, use the HBB icon in the Windows system tray and choose Exit HBB VMS PRO completely.
